Why are adult care assessments important?
Local Authorities have a Duty under the Care Act 14 to ensure that individuals who “appear” to have Care and Support Needs have access to a timely Needs Assessment and Care and Support Plan where this is needed. Ensuring individuals have access to timely Assessments may mean individuals can receive advice or guidance or access to Universal Services which may delay or prevent their needs in the future.
